New Jersey
Public Education Coalition

THE NEW JERSEY PUBLIC EDUCATION COALITION (NJPEC) is a non-partisan group of educators, administrators, municipal leaders, parents, and concerned citizens who seek to protect our public schools and communities from right-wing extremism.

Across the country and here in New Jersey, radical right Political Action Committees (PACs) and their supporters are succeeding in disrupting our communities and attacking our public schools.

As right-wing extremists continue to gain seats on our school boards, they are attacking our teachers, librarians, and administrators, forcing hard-working, qualified educators to resign. They are attacking our children's education with hate, intolerance, and racial bias; attempting to whitewash American history and ban award-winning books; and sowing division and pain in our communities.

NJPEC began as a Facebook Group for parents, educators, and citizens to come together to organize in each municipality, fight disinformation, and support qualified common sense elected officials and school board candidates.

Right-wing extremist organizations along with elected GOP officials are actively recruiting, training, endorsing, and funding school board candidates and they are invigorated by their success in 2022.

We are a diverse and rapidly growing grassroots organization working in partnership with our friends and with like-minded organizations and groups across the state to make sure this does not happen again.

New Jersey School Districts Have School Board Elections Every Year in April or November: Don’t miss your opportunity to be heard on April 19th or November 7, 2023.

Engage, Educate and Collaborate

Our mission is to:

ENGAGE

ENGAGE a larger portion of the population of stakeholders. If the majority of people in our state were aware of how crucial these school board elections are, more people would vote and extremists would be less likely to win.

EDUCATE

EDUCATE the population so that they can see the misinformation and disinformation for what it is: propaganda and lies. We want voters to be able to make logical, factual, informed conclusions about current issues and school board candidates.

COLLABORATE

COLLABORATE, not only as individuals but by bringing together the multitude of other existing organizations with aligned goals to protect public education and promote diversity, inclusion, and acceptance.
